"This body of work is very much about texture, materials and the surface of the canvas coming together to form a new space.
I've always been attracted to the beautiful colors and textures of very old buildings, ancient stones, generations of peeling wallpaper, threadbare fabrics and anything that hints at it's own history. I enjoy using a variety of materials such as found papers, fabric, caulk, joint compound, tar paper, glitter and sand as well as more traditional mediums like acrylic, water color, ink and pastels. I combine and alter these things until they appear to be works that, perhaps, hint at a history of their own.
Although I stay busy with my art, the title of this show and the authenticity of these pieces also references my feelings of resurfacing into the art world after having two babies and publishing seven books in the last five years."
